1. What is this page all about?

This page will answer the majority of questions you may have about the Naha Marathon and all the requirements you'll have to take care of in order to participate.

2. Where can I park?

Parking is very limited the day of the event. If at all possible you should try and find a method of arrival that doesn't require parking. E.g. taxi, get a lift from a friend, bus, monorail, etc. There are perhaps parking lots in the area where you could park for a fee, then taxi or walk to the starting area.

3. Where do I send my form once I fill it out?

1. When is the next Naha Marathon?

Sunday, December 2nd, 2007 09 AM

4. How soon can I register?

You can register by mailing in a form during the registration period a few months prior to the event or you can register the day before the event from 1PM - 8PM (Sat). It is better to register by mail prior if at all possible to ensure your race number and details are all confirmed. You can usually obtain a form from any MCCS facility, local bike shop, or the running club a few months before the race.

Who

1. Who can participate?

Anyone 16 years old or above on the day of the race.

According to the Naha Marathon Association, here are their written requirements:

"Registration Requirements

Appplicants must be in proper health; no nationality restrictions. Must be age 16 or over (by day of race). All runners must be officially registered with the Naha marathon administration (No substitutes or replacements allowed). Only those applicants who have signed the waiver agreement form accepting personal responsibility for race participation will be approved to run."

2. Is the registration method any different for foreigners?

Slightly. Here is the info provided by the Naha Marathon Association:

"International Registrations
(Non-native Japanese residing either within Japan or abroad)

The official application together with registration fee must be received within the dates specified below at the Naha Marathon Association offices, brought either in person or by cash registered mail.

On Base:

• Athletics gym on Torii station: 644-4334
• MCCS semper fit program office: 645-3521/3522

Off Base:

• Naha Marathon Association Office
  10:00–17:30 (Closed weekends and holidays)

3. How much does it cost to register?

According to the Naha Marathon Association:

"Registraion Fee

• Adult / ¥4,500 (JPY)
• Under 18 years of age / ¥3,500 (JPY)
• Over 65 years of age / ¥3,500 (JPY)

* Fee includes insurance and a commemorative T-shirt, and runners number.
* Absolutely No refunds after acceptance of application.
* Cancellation of event due to inclement weather, accident or other incident shall not be cause for refund of Registration Fee. "
